3 men October 03, 2005 I wish I could break all the chains holding me I wish I could say all the things that I should say Say 'em loud say 'em clear For the whole wide world to hear And I wish you could know how it is to be me Then you'd see and agree that every man should be free One love one blood One life you've got to do what you should One life with each other Sisters, brothers One love but we're not the same We got to carry each other Carry each other it was daylight savings yesterday, which means we're five hours ahead again. it's so weird the way an hour passed in just a second when we reset our clocks. i didnt really realise what it meant other than it being harder to talk to you guys, but i just got told that now it'll get dark at eight! as in it's actually still seven o'clock but the clocks show eight so while it's actually still getting dark at seven, now it's eight! so strange! i can't believe how it's october now. even though i'm so excited to go home, i really don't want this year to end. it just means being another year further from last year. i think a really stupid part of me still thinks that when i go home, everything will still be the way it was before we left. like.. the same "way of life" as we had in mg cos that's really the only way of life i know in singapore. i really do need to decide soon what's going to be happening with me next year. i've gone over it so many times in my head but nothing has changed and i'm still as undecided as before. i know how lucky i am to have this decision to make, but i just dont see how to make it! now and then jo and i still get these sudden moments of oh my goodness the two of us are here in new zealand together and its been eight months!! and i know, that whatever happens next year, i will miss this one. not just because of my neurotic way of holding onto things but cos its really been one heck of a crazy adventure being here. i'm going to miss laughing at nonsense things all day, complaining about the common room smells, desert dashes, rugby, the wonderful people, forcing tomu into girlfriend-hood, scaring tomu on the stairs (!!), trash nights, intercoming with jo, getting discovered and subsequently laughed at in the entertainment room watching tv knitting with my 'lousy' computer at my feet.. and that's just a few! so don't worry jo and careroll, you know i'm going to miss you both as much as coke costs. :D we were talking to ATS our homestay mum the other night. and i felt so tired for her. her boys get so much crap from people.. it's not nice to think that some people find it that hard to accept other people's disabilities or differences. after listening to all thats happened in her life i just wanted to shout at everybody how important it is to respect other people. i mean you watch the news and almost everyday there's something terrible that has happened because of what people do to each other. it's so sad to see just how shallow and superficial humans can be at times. the world throws enough hard times at us without our causing any more for others don't you think? well i do.. i think that we should take every opportunity to make life easier for whoever we can, even if it is by that tiny little bit. anyway. i really hope you guys are doing alright with your respective exams. i miss you all so much, i cant wait to catch up!!! keep chugging away at those books/photocopied notes hurhur. you can do it. hey! i'm serious! i know you just mentally shook your heads. YOU CAN DO IT. |
